The third day of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge began early as the team left camp and headed toward the first control stop of the day. Nils Persson was the first driver and successfully brought the car into Alice Springs, which also marked the fifth control stop of the competition.
The checkpoint officially opened at 8:00 AM this morning and will remain open until 10:30 AM tomorrow. With the arrival in Alice Springs, the team has now reached the halfway point of the race, approximately 1,500 km from the starting line in Darwin. At this stage, JU Solar Team remained within the top 10.
After the mandatory stop, Kevin Lundström took over as driver. The journey then continued toward the sixth control stop, with changing conditions on the road as stronger winds and cloudier skies appeared. At the next stop, Ellie Brismar stepped in behind the wheel and drove the team further toward Erlunda.
For much of the day, JU Solar Team held 7th place, competing closely with Western Sydney. However, as the day came to an end, Western Sydney managed to pull ahead, placing JU Solar Team in 8th overall.
The evening concluded with the team setting up camp about 1.5–2 hours from Coober Pedy, which will be tomorrow’s first control stop. Tomorrow, we will continue forward, determined to fight our way up the leaderboard.
