Today began at the seventh control stop in Coober Pedy, which opened yesterday, Tuesday the 26th at 16:00, and will close tomorrow, Thursday the 28th at 13:00.  Coober Pedy is located about 2,180 km from the starting line in Darwin. Nils Persson was the first driver of the day, before handing over to Kevin Lundström, who drove the solar car to the next control stop.

Strong winds made driving particularly challenging, and at times the team had to act as a human wind shield to protect the solar car. Despite the tough conditions, the team pressed on and reached the second and final control stop of the day – Glendambo, the eighth control stop in the competition. It opened today at 10:00 and will remain open until tomorrow at 17:00. From here, it’s still about 2,430 km from Darwin.

After leaving Glendambo, Ellie Brismar took the wheel and drove the solar car towards the campsite for the night. Along the way, the team faced two roadwork zones, which created extra challenges for both the drivers and the strategy team. This required close cooperation within the convoy to keep everything running smoothly. Ellie handled the final stretch of the day impressively, bringing the car safely to the team’s camping spot.

So far, the team has covered around 2,585 km from the starting line in Darwin, and remains in a 8th place. With steady progress and teamwork, JU Solar Team is closing in on Adelaide and preparing for the final stages of the competition.
