This Sunday, JU Solar Team visited Volvo Group’s Hällered Proving Ground to complete a key milestone in the project: our first test drive with the solar panel mounted. The tests were carried out on the High-Speed Course and focused on collecting valuable data, testing different wheel alignments, and evaluating telemetry and radio communication under realistic driving conditions.
Before we could hit the track, our drivers – Ellie, Kevin, Gabriel, and Calle – completed mandatory safety training provided by Volvo. The training included a presentation, a short quiz, and a guided tour of the facility focusing on safety protocols and track operations. The training was held the week before and was required for access to the proving ground.
The test day started with basic checks and a short initial drive to ensure everything was functioning as expected. Then the team continued with high-speed testing.
After the weekend at Hällered, our solar car has now driven a total of 270 kilometers – a major step forward in our preparations for the upcoming competition.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Volvo for your generous support and for giving us access to your test tracks – it truly means a lot to the team!
