About two weeks ago, we completed our four-day journey through the Australian outback – an important part of our preparation for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.
We started early in the morning in Adelaide and drove north toward our first stop. Instead of staying overnight at Glendambo Roadhouse, we set up camp at Ingomar North Rest Area. It was our first real night in tents, where the whole team worked together to set up roof tents, ground tents, and the kitchen tent. Even though it was our first time, everything went smoothly, and we ended the day with a shared dinner before going to sleep.

The next day, the trip continued toward Finke River Roadside Stop. On the way, we passed through Coober Pedy, where we had the opportunity to practice a control stop – a central part of the race. Control stops are mandatory checkpoints during the competition where the car must arrive on time, continue charging, and where the team can quickly change drivers and take a short break. This gave us a valuable chance to test our routines in a real setting.

We also caught a glimpse of the unique landscape around Coober Pedy and took the opportunity to snap a team photo by the famous sign before continuing our journey. Once we arrived at Finke River, we set up camp again, cooked dinner, and enjoyed the evening together after a long day on the road.

On the third day, the journey continued to Elliott, NT. The temperature rose during the day and reached around 27 degrees when we found a good spot for the night’s camp. There, we shared dinner together and celebrated a teammate’s birthday.

On the fourth day, we finally reached Darwin – a major milestone on our road to the competition. The intense days of driving in convoy, camping under the stars, and sharing time together as a team became an unforgettable experience.
Once we arrived, the final preparations began. Nova Lumina went through scrutineering to ensure that everything met the regulations before the test drives at the Gunpoint track.
After that, we have been at Hidden Valley, where we continued working on the car and carried out test drives both on the race track and on the road at Gunn Point.
